Exercise

About my current exercise...

I just joined a gym at my hubby's place of employment. I've never belonged to a gym before, but was hoping that this would be the motivation I need to get back to working out again. I did my first day on my workout plan on 1/3/13. I stopped going when I injured my Achilles tendon and was in a boot. I haven't been back since which is crazy. I am making it a goal for this upcoming school year (2014-2015) to get back into going to the gym after work.

This summer I have been working around the house and using the Wii Fit U for my exercise. I am really out of shape and I figure it is best to start out easy and work my way up to where I was before. I won't be able to jog/run due to my Achilles tendon injury. This weight loss blogger won't be doing any 5Ks!

Here is a list of other activities that I like to do for exercise (As you can read in the following list, I like to do exercise that helps me get my house/yard looking better):
  • walking
  • biking
  • stretching
  • workout machine (Tower 2000)
  • Wii Fit U
  • Kinect (Xbox 360)
  • weed the garden/flowers
  • clean the house (dust, sweep, mop, etc)
  • paint a room or other DIY project to better our house
  • mow the yard

My exercise history...

I was one of those kids that played sports. Until sophomore year of high school, where I decided more time playing the flute was important. I stopped playing basketball at that point, even though I still could have been on the team. I played basketball from 5th grade through 7th grade and freshman year of high school. I played three years of town softball and one year of volleyball during junior high. When I stopped playing sports, I got into rollerblading and working out on my own with dumbbells.

When I got to college, I did a good job freshman year of still doing a little bit of working out, but sophomore year I got too busy with classes and extra curricular activities to workout anymore. This trend kept up throughout the rest of college and up to this day pretty much. There was a time right after college where I was working at Wal-Mart when I was building up my strength through physical labor, but that is long gone now.

I have done a little bit here and there along the way to get back in shape, but I usually tell myself I'm too busy or stressed out to workout. That is kinda silly, because working out can help you reduce stress and spend a little time on yourself.
