Easy and Healthy Pizza

I'm still trying to catch up on things I need to get done for Monday (or that I just plain wanted to get done this weekend) on Sunday night! I thought I'd write a short post about what I just cooked for my lunches this week at work for tonight's post.

I (like most normal human beings) love pizza. Especially my mom's homemade or a good deep dish. But as we all know, pizza can be pretty unhealthy for you. I thought about how to make a pizza on plan for me and easy to cook (since we all know my hatred of cooking).

Here is my easy, healthy pizza recipe.
  • one 100% whole wheat pizza crust (check the ingredients and make sure it is actually made of whole wheat flour- many aren't)
  • pizza or spaghetti sauce (there are heart healthy, extra veggie, and even no sugar added varieties)
  • mozzarella cheese (low-fat or fat free)
  • lean ground beef or turkey (I usually use 80% lean ground beef)
  • your choice of other toppings (mine are green peppers and onions)
First you need to brown the meat in a frying pan on the stove top.

Then while the meat is browning (and you are checking it occasionally and stirring it), you can put the rest of the pizza together. Start with the crust and add the sauce and cheese.

Then chop up your veggies and throw them on top of the cheese.

Last, add the ground beef to the top when done browning.

Then cook in the oven for 8-10 minutes. Now you have an amazing pizza that is on plan for most people watching what they eat.

Also, on my shopping trip today I bought a cookbook. I don't like to cook, but it would help me to lose weight faster if I start cooking more at home. Of all places, I saw it on sale at Menards. I'm not on Weight Watchers anymore, but I figured it should be close to how I try to eat.
