Black Tie Dinner

I wish I had the time to post every day, but for right now I just don't have the time. Once the bathroom renovation wraps up, I should be able to post more often. Speaking of the reno, the bathroom looks like a real bathroom again. I was even able to use the shower for the first time! I did some more sanding and finished painting the walls. After seeing the paint dry, I wish I would've spent more time with the sanding and filling, but I can always go back later and work on that. My husband and FIL installed the toilet which we can now use again. They also installed the sink (currently has silicone drying for the faucet and drain) which isn't functional yet. The medicine cabinet and light fixture are up and functional though.

The new medicine cabinet was much smaller, so we had to patch in the drywall and cut a smaller hole.

The new baseboard.

The old toilet back in place and the new sink.

The new sink, medicine cabinet, and light fixture.

Going back to earlier this week... Thursday and Friday were pretty typical work days. No complaints about them. Here are the outfits from Thursday and Friday (I especially like Friday's outfit.):

I do have some things I just didn't have time to do at work this week that I'll be working on this weekend such as my lesson plans and concert planning. I just found out that there is going to be a book fair on October 23rd. I wanted to split my concerts up this year to do two grade levels with the first book fair and two with the second one. I need to get at least a couple of songs for each grade level picked out and learned this weekend, so I can teach them next week. There is also a lot of other things that go along with concert prep besides picking out songs such as parent letters and permission slips, planning whole grade level practices, figuring out parts (singing, speaking, instrument, etc.), figuring out any costumes and/or props, making power points of the songs since most of the time they aren't from the music books, planning the concert night itself, and I'm sure there are other things I'm forgetting.

Saturday morning was spent running errands. The first thing that I did was drive on 80/90 for the first time ever since I will be taking that road a lot once I start grad school. It is a little scary for a girl who lives in a town but still feels like a country girl. My idea of big highway driving growing up was 30. I have an appointment on Monday after work to meet with the professor that is the head of the program I would like to do for grad school. I've only been to Hammond a few times (dentist, job interview, and a baby shower) and have taken Indianapolis those times. I got there perfectly fine, but we'll see how it goes once there is traffic (not so much between 7:30-8:00 am on Saturday). After my first big girl drive, I went to get some groceries at Meijer, a prescription at CVS, and milk from Strack's since my husband will only drink Centrella milk which I can only find at Strack's. I have a random photo I took of some little birdies while waiting at the McDonald's drive thru for my egg mcmuffin and diet coke.

Saturday evening was the highlight of the week (besides showering at my own house), because one of my friends was hosting a "black tie dinner" at her new house. The group of friends I saw was my St. Joe friends (since most of us met at St. Joe). We had an amazing dinner (photo and details below) and then went outside to the little "shack" in the back yard to sing karaoke. Someone brought a 15 person tent, so everyone could just stay there (everyone but me that is :(...). I have a lot on my plate to finish this weekend, so I went home to get up early and get to work.

A dress that I got a while ago from Meijer for only $10.

Here is the complete outfit. I was upset that the picture was off center, but it looks kind of like I planned it that way to be by my awesome old-timey record player.

My not-so-black tie shoes.

I love these earrings that I got from JCP for $1. If you look at the picture below, you can see that they don't match. They are both flowers, but different ones and colors. I love these because they remind me of the style from the '90's and something that Blossom would've worn.

The very yummy and fancy dinner. The menu included salmon, mango salsa pork, shrimp, beef and turkey Mignon, peas and onions, green bean casserole, grilled zucchini, rolls, and grilled pineapple with vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce for dessert.

As for eating/exercising at the end of the week and weekend... My eating hasn't been exactly what I planned on, but it is much better than it has been. Working out has kind of been lacking, but I did get some exercise by sanding, painting, and mowing the yard. Here are some food photos from this week:

I've had a few of these this week, but way less than last week.

With applesauce instead of a cookie.

I've been drinking a lot of caffeine this week which probably isn't the greatest thing.
