Two Days in a Row

Look at this, two posts in a row! Not too much for me to say today though. I ate almost on plan like I posted yesterday, but I did substitute something else for my dinner. I had one last microwave dinner left, so I ate it tonight. It was chicken nuggets and a couple of smiley face fries. My dinners for the rest of the week will be turkey burgers and sweet potato fries. I also had a couple of junk food items, but I made sure to eat my healthy snacks first to fill me up more. I had a couple of sugar cookies and one cupcake.I know that may sound horrible, but it is really nothing compared to the amount of junk I have been eating in one day.

As for my goals...
  • I drank all water today, so that was good. No pop and no fake sugar, no calorie drinks.
  • No fast food!
  • Ate almost on plan except for dinner (explained above).
  • I didn't really get too much movement in, but I am feeling sick. I had a horrible sore throat and now it is more irritated than sore. I'm also really tired and achy. I'm not going to push it since I need to make it through the workweek and class on Thursday night.
Since I'm tired and not feeling well, the plans for tonight are to get everything ready for work tomorrow and then watch The Voice. Hopefully the rest will do me good since Wednesdays are my busiest day at work.

A Summer Cold and Classes

I was all set to give my best on this first week of my summer break, but I have been sick all week. The cold started last weekend and I'm still feeling it. I also got sick to my stomach and have been eating bland foods which means lots of carbs. I haven't been sick to my stomach for almost 48 hours, but I'm still not feeling up to eating normal food yet. I've spent most of this week sleeping, watching TV, sleeping while the TV is on, and reading for my summer classes. I've decided to let myself just get better first and then get back on track. My dogs have also been lazy right along with me:

As for classes, I'm really enjoying them minus the discomfort of being sick and trying to stay awake and concentrate. Summer classes are only eight weeks which means projects due quicker than last semester. Also, when I'm physically in class, I'm there from 4-10 pm which means six hours! Luckily we only meet in class once a week and have assignments online for the other "class" period. So far the diversity class is my favorite. We did an activity last night where everyone had to wear a label on their back with a description of a person from a non-dominant cultural group. Then we had to walk around and tell each other stereotypes while we figured out who we were. Of course I got stuck with a difficult one!

Other than that, I really haven't been up to much. I did happen to stumble upon a few garage sales on the way to the grocery store today. I love getting some clothes to tie me over for the summer at such great prices. Here are some of the things I got today:

Once I'm feeling back to normal, I have a meal plan and some exercise ideas in mind to get the summer weight loss started. Until then, I guess I deal with the major weight gain last week and four pounds down this week due to not keeping my food down the other day.

Da Bulls and Da Bed

Well, once again I've been a bad blogger and haven't written for a long time. Things have been busy, I got sick, and I haven't really been doing the best at healthy eating/living. There was some exciting stuff in my life last week, so I'll share that for now.

On Tuesday I went to my first professional basketball (NBA) game. My husband is in the business world which is much different than what I am used to in the education world. The team that my husband belongs to had, for a lack of better words, a "Christmas outing." We were bused to Chicago in those limousine buses that have the laser lights, title floors, snacks, and built in coolers with beverages waiting for us. I didn't want to go picture crazy in front of the hub's work colleagues, so I barely have any pictures. Not everyone knows that I'm a blogger and I don't want to scare people off by taking pictures of everything I eat and do!

The first stop in Chicago was La Luce (an Italian restaurant). They had half a floor reserved for us and an eight course meal. I'm lactose intolerant and allergic to oregano and basil, so an Italian restaurant is the last place I should really be. I had lots of bread and salad along with dessert. While we were there, the boss of the team handed out funny Christmas gifts along with some gift cards.

After the meal we headed down to the United Center on our buses to the Bulls vs. Clippers game. I've never been to the United Center or an NBA game, so I was excited for that. I used to play basketball and remember watching the Bulls with Jordan, Rodman, and Pippen during the three-peat. I know that those were the golden days and the team is much different now, but it sparked a little flame inside of me to want to get back into shape and be able to shoot hoops or scrimmage again. I have a long way to go fitness-wise until I can do that though. I did take a few pictures from our seats at the game.

Since it was such a late outing and I don't function well on less than 8 hours of sleep, I took a personal day off of work the next day. I got to sleep in a bit and get a few things done around the house. We also traded in our standard size box springs for our new king size bed for the shorter, more compact ones which were delivered on my day off.  I didn't mind the standard size for myself personally, but sometimes the doggies jump out of bed when excited and I don't want them to paralyze themselves from jumping from too high of a place.

Last weekend was supposed to be full of fun for me, but I ended up getting sick on Friday and felt absolutely horrible on Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday night I was supposed to hang out with a few friends from work. My aunt that I go to concerts with was at my sisters, so I was going to go visit her sometime during the weekend. I'm sad that I didn't get to do either thing, but the rest did help quite a bit as I am able to hack my way through one more week of work before Winter Break.

If I get some time later this week I'll write about the whole healthy living or lack thereof...

My Life from October 22-25

Since it has been a while, I'll probably split up my thoughts up into two posts. This one will be about what has been going on in my life. The next one will be about weight loss (or the lack thereof).

Last Saturday I went out to lunch with my friend Jenny. I went to her wedding back in the beginning of October. Even though we live a few hours away from each other, an opportunity came up where she was going to be in my neck of the woods. We went to Red Lobster since we both haven't been there for a while and thought it sounded good. We had a good time catching up and stopped by Kohl's for a few minutes afterwards to walk around. I got my usual lunch portion of grilled tilapia with rice, broccoli, and a salad.

Here's some pictures of the outfit and accessories I wore that day. I love the peace sign earrings with the black and grey striped shirt.

The rest of the weekend and beginning of this week was spent preparing for my fall music program at work. The second and third grades performed songs from the musical revue "We're Making Music" by Teresa and Paul Jennings (Music K-8 magazine has it if there are any music teachers out there reading this). The pictures below are from the backdrop I made and from left to right of the backdrop since it was too big to fit into one picture.

The program was on Tuesday after school and it went well. My CD player decided to stop working before the third grade program, but one of my fellow teachers had the magic touch to get it to work again. This is the second time that thing has not worked for me. I think it might be out to get me... On a positive note, I got some lovely flowers again after the program as a thank you.

From the third grade teachers.

From the PTO.
Another random work thing... This past week was spirit week for Red Ribbon Week, so I got to wear pajamas to work on Monday which was kinda fun and comfortable.

I stayed at home on Wednesday of this week, because I was still feeling sick. The antibiotics helped right away with the sore throat, but I've still been really low on energy. I've been coughing, sneezing, and having an on and off again runny nose. I think those symptoms are probably just my fall allergies acting up, but it is not fun in combination with whatever other illness I had. I slept for about 12 hours (minus taking the dogs out and feeding them). I sure hope that I get my energy back soon without the help of caffeine and 12 hours of sleep.

Thursday was the last day of the workweek for me. We have fall break this Friday and Monday. I'm looking forward to using this time to see some friends, relax, clean the house, and most importantly get back on track with the weight loss. My thoughts on that will be in the next post.
