One Week Challenge- Day Four, New Shoes, and Applying for Grad School

Today is the fourth day of my one week challenge. I've done pretty well with my eating this week besides the one doughnut a few days ago, but somehow my weight went up! I guess that is why you probably shouldn't weigh yourself every day...

Thursday started off with a small change in my usual breaky (as they say in the Beatles movie Yellow Submarine).

If you don't know what the change is, I used a bagel thin instead of a wrap for my eggs. The bagel thins are good, but I think I prefer the wraps.
I spent several hours at work again trying to decorate, but mostly start organizing my room.

The mess before...

and the organization later.

I have a lot of papers, music, and CD's stuffed away in random places that I'm trying to find good homes for.

My rules bulletin board with some new "motivational" posters on the upper right hand side.

While I was there I had two snacks

and a meal.

I spent the early part of my afternoon at the mall at the Sketchers store again. This time I went for it and bought the Sketchers GOwalk. I wanted a pair of brown and a pair of black, but they only had brown ones in stock in my size. I'm hoping that they get the black ones in before work begins. If you want to see them or read about the new GOwalk instead of Shape Ups, here is a link. Here is a picture of the pair I was able to get.

My afternoon snack was a healthy one I found at Meijer:

My dinner was leftovers from my hubby cooking out the other day:

I spent the evening starting the online application for graduate school. As it stands now, I would like to get a masters degree in mental health counseling. The classes are all at night and most of the students in this program work, so it sounds like the logistics should work out as long as I get accepted. I'm excited and a little bit scared all at the same time, but I guess I shouldn't be sweating it yet until I'm accepted and working full time while taking two classes a semester.

I was so caught up in this whole grad school thing that I almost forgot to have an evening snack. I ended up not feeling like making my usual oatmeal breakfast cookie, so I just had this instead.

One Week Challenge- Day Three and Shopping

The first thing that I did on Wednesday morning is cook a healthy breakfast after weighing myself (still the same today, so no new picture of the scale).

I then went for a jog and here are the stats:
  • 5,354 aerobic steps
  • 38 minutes
  • 2.22 miles
I have one more jog I'm planning to do on Friday at the 28 minute mark before moving on to the real deal- 30 minutes not stop jogging. After I get used to the 30 minutes, I will work on increasing my distance.

I decided not to go into work today because of student registration. I know I might seem a little weird for this, but I like working alone in my room with no disturbances. I like to be efficient and get things done without distractions. So instead of working, I did some things around the house until the hubs got up. I then went shopping...

So I wasn't out shopping just to shop. I did have objectives. I first went to the teacher store to buy some stuff to help me out with the bulletin board I want to make. I ended up buying this:

I already had the letters, border, and smiley faces. I bought the peace signs/flowers you see in the plastic as well as a set of black music symbols. I already have purple tie dye fabric that I'm going to use as the background.
I then went to the Shoe Carnival in my next two biggest towns and couldn't find what I was looking for. I'm picky when it comes to shoes for work. Last year I got a pair of black and brown Sketchers mary jane style shape-ups. Those two pairs of shoes were pretty much all I would wear to work (and sometimes on the weekends too). They are well-loved and it shows.

The old shape-ups are being phased out for a new style that still promotes good posture and possible "toning." I finally went to the mall and the Sketchers store and found some possibilities. I have to talk it over with the hubs since they are $60 a pair. I know some people probably wouldn't think it is a lot for a pair of shoes, but I do since we are living off of just my teaching income right now.

I walked through JCP to get into the mall, so I checked out some clearance racks. I found jewelry for $1 a piece, so I got just about everything that I could find for $1. I like most of it, but it could also be used as gifts. Love a great deal!

While I was out shopping, the hubs called to ask a) where I was at and b) when would I get home. He didn't tell me, but I guess he was cooking out for dinner. It was raining, so I really wasn't expecting that! We had BBQ grilled chicken, potatoes and onions, and grilled asparagus. I don't like asparagus, so I had baby carrots with my meal.

I did really well with my eating today, so here are the meals and snacks not pictured above:

Afternoon Snack:

I had raisins instead of fruit spirals and I tried the chocolate brownie flavor (it was okay).
