I had ten classes today, so no prep periods today. It was a mix of well behaved and not so well behaved classes- just a typical day. I tried to get a few things done around the room before school and after school. I was trying to make calls after school and get a referral written up. Craziness. Tomorrow is the music performance as part of Grandparents Night. The PTO is taking care of most of the activities, but I taught the kids a few songs that they will sing for the grandparents/special people. Performances always take a toll as they are stressful.
Speaking of stressful, the school nurse sent out a message as part of her "Get Fit" group that discussed stress. It was so fitting for me today, as I have been really fighting the urge to stress eat this week and last week. It discussed how the body processes any kind of stress the same way. So my getting worked up about a program makes my body respond in the same way as if I almost got in a fender bender. That is an interesting thought. Today I took a minute to see what my physical body felt like when I was stressed out after work trying to make calls, write someone up, get my room picked up, and get ready for tomorrow while leaving not too much later than usual. I did notice that it was a similar feeling. I guess that is why it is so automatic for me to feel overloaded and reach for whatever is available to eat in my classroom. It does help calm the nerves. It is a pretty bad habit I need to learn to break.
