Musical Day

When I was driving to work this morning, the sun was almost a hot pink color when it was rising. I tried to get a close up of it, but this is the best shot that I got.

Today was a very fun and musical day for me. My work days are always full of music, but today I had two guest musicians who played for almost all my classes today. We had a pianist and a guitar player. They talked about their instruments, played some songs, had some sing-a-longs, had the kids try the guitar, had the kids play percussion instruments, and had the kids dance. We had everything from basic songs like Twinkle, Twinkle and Take Me Out the Ballgame to fun songs like Yellow Submarine and Call Me Al. I got tons of pictures and even some videos, obviously I can't show my students on here.

Tonight I decided to break out the flute and attempt to play. I ended up playing for two hours. Since I barely play at all anymore and it is far and between my practicing, I'm not all that great. I am surprised at how much comes back, but I can't play some songs at their final speed anymore. I have been wanting to practice again, so maybe this will be motivation. It made me feel very happy to play, even if I'm not as good as I used to be. I played everything from Beatles to show tunes to classical. My bumblebee for Flight of the Bumblebee might be an old one with a walker, but I still made it to the end. Maybe I can work on a few songs and post a video of me playing them on here.

My flute and some music packed in a cute music bag. I'm gonna take it to work on Thursday and might practice while I'm waiting to give the piano lesson.
As for food and exercise... Today wasn't horrible, but it wasn't the best. I had a not so healthy microwave pizza for dinner, but I had my soup for lunch. Half of the day was good and half wasn't. I did manage to squeeze in a short walk with the hubby, so I'll call that my exercise for today.
