No More Wogs and a Bathroom Reno

I know it has been a while, but no worries. I'm doing pretty well all in all. I lost two pounds last week and have maintained so far this week. Here's to losing some weight this weekend!

I've been doing great on my wogs and jogs. I just finished week six in my C25K program. Looking ahead at weeks seven through nine reveal that I am officially done wogging. I will now only be doing longer times/distances of jogging with warm-up and cool-down walks. I'm still doing this by time, but I've been trying to increase my distance as well. Right now even if my time is up, I make sure to at least do some extra walking at the end to get my distance to two miles. Here are some stats:

Saturday's (7/21) C25K stats (first 20 minute no stop jog):
  • 5,233 aerobic steps
  • 40 minutes
  • 2.18 miles
Friday's (7/27) first 22 minute jog:
  • 5,130 aerobic steps
  • 38 minutes
  • 2.14 miles
My play list for this past week was...
  • Midnight by Red Hot Chili Peppers (5 minute warm-up walk)
  • Crazy On You by Heart
  • Hellraiser by Ozzy Osbourne
  • Three Little Birds by Bob Marley
  • King of Pain by The Police
  • Take Me to the River by Talking Heads
  • Band on the Run by Paul McCartney (cool-down walk)
The big reason I haven't been writing much recently is because of the bathroom renovation that I started last week. It was mostly going to be me using cheap solutions and my elbow grease to fix things up that we already had in the bathroom. Then my father-in-law offered to pay for a new vanity and things escalated from there into an almost gut job. The bathtub, toilet, and walls are the only things staying in there (and the floor, but it will be covered up). So far all we've really done is demolition. I tore down the wallpaper and cleaned the walls. We have also removed the vanity (sink and all) and the medicine cabinet. Here is how my bathroom currently looks:

Don't worry, the lights aren't staying. We just need the lights until we put the new ones up.

Here is some new stuff for the bathroom:

We ended up getting a pedestal sink since we didn't like most of the vanities and our bathroom is small.

The pedestal of for the sink and a curious Benjamin.

The new medicine cabinet.

New shower curtain.

New light fixture for above the medicine cabinet.

New floor tiles.

New curtain rod.

New blinds. I will be making curtains to match the shower curtain to put over the blinds.

New accessories.

New towels.
I've also had a bit of relaxing time too. There was a big thunderstorm a few days ago and the power was out for 8 hours. I started the eight hours of no power by starting to read Catching Fire (the 2nd book in the Hunger Games trilogy). Well it was so good I couldn't put it down and finished it that day. Then I ended up just saying forget it and started the 3rd book in the series called Mockingjay. I got half of it done that night and the other half the next day. This is what my day of relaxation looked like:

It's raining pretty hard.

Raining hard again.

We lost a few semi-sizable tree limbs. It probably had something to do with the 70-80 mile per hour winds.

My jammies, a good book, and a few doggies.

As for the food part of things, it has been good. I've been trying to cut myself down to one sweet treat a day. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. That is probably why I haven't lost any weight this week. My eating schedule has sometimes been out of whack too with eating late and skipping snacks. Here are some different things that I ate this week:

  1. Hey Kami,

Don't sweat the small stuff; weight loss for a healthy life is about the long term trends, not the quick loss or the occasional weight gains! It sounds like you're doing great--keep it up!

How'd you like The Hunger Games Trilogy? I really enjoyed it, even though some people were disappointed in the second and third books, I thought that they were pretty good.

I was getting impatient waiting for your posts and I'm really glad to find you doing so well.

    Keep it up,
    Jeremy

    1. Thanks Jeremy! I liked all of the books in the Hunger Games Trilogy. I don't see how you could be disappointed in any of them. I'll try to be better about posting more often. My schedule will be crazy with the bathroom reno and getting ready for work again, but work will bring a schedule and regular time for posting.
