Week Six, Day Six and the School Year

Well, today and tomorrow and it is back to work time for me. It will make some things easier on the weight loss and some things harder. The easier things are: a set schedule of when I eat during most of the day, I tend to cook one big meal and split it into five lunches, I tend to drink more water and less pop, and I get little bursts of movement throughout the day when I do the activities that the kids do with them. Some of the harder things are making sure to workout when I get home (to the non-teachers, sometimes you are just drained at the end of the school day), not eating when I am sitting at my desk working on something, not stress eating, and not eating anything "bad" put in the lounge or at a gathering.


As you have seen, my exercise has decreased because of my working in my classroom. I have been adding some useful things like removable word walls and some fun things like Princess and the Frog posters. Here are a few of the projects in pictures:

My removable word walls. It is made of big pieces of felt, bulletin board border, velcro, staples, and word strips that will be attached as the kids learn new musical terms. They are hanging on 3-M hooks, so I can take them down to review or test.

Adding a little fun to the classroom with some homemade, cheap, and interchangable artwork. The left is a poster I got from the Dollar Tree, the middle is vinyl wall art that I stuck to some cool paper and framed, and the right is fabric stapled to the back of the frame with records in it.

My first bulletin board since I've been at my school (this is the start of year four). I made it quick and fun for now with things I already had, but I look forward to changing it hopefully once a month.

Food:
  • oatmeal with honey

Snack:
  • english muffin with egg and cheese

Lunch:
  • grilled chicken sandwich
  • salad with ranch

Snack:
  • a couple of 100 calorie fruit crisps
Dinner:
  • chicken snack wrap
  • salad with ranch
  • diet 7up
Exercise: I've done some shopping, so I've walked around and am now cleaning the house a bit.
