Gaining Control

This week has had its share of ups and downs as far as the weight loss efforts go. I would like to focus this post on sharing the positives from this week.

  • I had the urge for candy bars today again (specifically Twix), but went for this instead.

  • I have been having burritos for dinner. I’ve used 100% whole wheat tortillas, 94% lean ground beef, fat free refried beans, shredded cheese, lettuce, onion, and tomatoes on them. They are tasty, filling, and easy to make. All I really had to cook was the ground beef.

  • There was Domino’s pizza and cinnamon bread at our staff meeting today. It smelled so good, but I didn’t have a bite of anything.
  • This week was the official start of the walking challenge at work. I need to walk over 8,000 steps a day (and upload my data once a week) to be eligible for a drawing to win a prize at the end. So far I’ve been over 8,000 steps every day. There was one day I even had over 13,000 steps!

  • I had prep time today and had the urge to snack while working in my room. I fought off the urge with a mint.
  • I have been doing my stretches every day this week. I switched to doing them at night, often times during a commercial break in one of my shows. American Idol has such long commercial breaks that I need something to get up and do so I’m not bored.
  • On Monday, I weighed in at 187.8 which is about a six pound loss for this month. I weighed more this morning, (Snacking on candy bars wouldn’t have anything to do with this, right?) but am confident as long as I get back on track I can be down to that six pound mark by the end of April. That means I met my goal for the month of 4-8 pounds down.
  • If I could get back down to 187 (which is the lowest I’ve been so far in this weight loss journey) I get to open up one of the C.D.s that have been taunting me all month and finally listen to it.

So here is to a good end of the week and weekend! On track and in control so that Monday weigh in is a good one.
