My Weekend in Lafayette

On Saturday I went down to Lafayette to visit my St. Joe friends.

I got to drive down 65 and see a bunch of this...

and a bunch of this.
One of them recently got a house and was having a cookout. I brought a wonderful veggie tray (which I forgot to take a picture of it), some veggie straws, and some new fat free brownies that I've never tried before. Even though there were plenty of people there not on a diet, they ate them and liked them anyways. I ended up having a hamburger and a little bit of all the stuff I brought and drank water the whole night which I thought wasn't too bad.

I found this at Meijer if you are curious.
I ended up staying the night in Lafayette and hung out with my friends again on Sunday. While they were either at church or sleeping off the effects of last night, I went out to do a little shopping. I didn't have much time, but I went to Gordman's and Wal-Mart. I found some cute stuff to use in my office at work at Gordman's. At Wally World I found High School Musical curtain valences for only $1.00 a piece! I'm gonna spend more money than that to buy tension rods to hang them up!

We got breakfast/lunch/ brunch or whatever you call eating at 11:00 am at Denny's. Here is a confession: I've never been to Denny's before. I heard it was pretty greasy, fatty, and unhealthy. I was able to find something that was high in fiber with healthier sides, so I got it. It was banana pecan pancakes, egg whites, and turkey bacon.

We then went back to Kristen's house and played some Rock Band for a while. When I'm at home and play I usually sing. Several of my friends like to sing and not play the instruments. I was on drums most of the time. I'm not very good at them so I might need to take some time to get better at them before I see them next.

Once again it was time for that drive down 65 back home. I managed to get a picture of the Iroquois River and an interesting advertisement.

I got the "nice" side in this picture going northbound. If you go southbound, you get the side that says "Hell is Real."

I ended up back home around 5:00, so I didn't get much else done besides watering my garden, a few dishes, and cleaning the kitchen. Here is to a productive week next week with my bathroom reno!

Controlled Indulgences

The scale was down to 185ish this morning when I stepped on and I was about ready to do a happy dance again, but then it shot up to 187 again and that was the registered weight of the day. I'm happy that I'm doing better, but it would have been awesome to be down 2 pounds!

Today was a pretty good day all in all. I didn't have any classes to teach until 10:30, because my one first grade class went on a field trip. I had from 8:00-10:30 to myself to get things done. I got all the sound equipment and decorations off of the stage, organized, and put away. I also taped down more carpet squares in my circle, sent some e-mails, and got my 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade lesson plans for next week done.

I was confronted with some goodies at work, but ate an appropriate amount (not seconds or huge pieces). I first had a homemade brownie someone brought in at lunch. At our staff meeting we had cake to honor a co-worker who is about to go on maternity leave. It was a Costco cake, so I couldn't turn that down! I was lucky and got a smaller sized middle piece handed to me, so no extra frosting! I am proud that I didn't go crazy because I had sugar and eat a bunch of garbage for the rest of the day.

Easter 2012

Today I was up just a slight bit, about 1/2 a pound, but I expect that after eating too many chips and eating out for dinner. Today is a challenge as well, since I am having two big meals.

I spent the morning getting ready, taking care of the doggies, and get some Easter presents around for my family. I usually wait for things to go on sale and save them until the next year, so I save money and already have everything I need. I just wrap, and I' m set to go. No one is ever too old for for an Easter basket! Here is my outfit for the day (both pieces are from Kohl's and I love them).

I also gave my husband his Easter present before leaving to see my family for lunch.

I had lunch with my mom, dad, sister, niece, and brother-in-law. We weren't very traditional in our food choices. My mom had some ham steaks she could cook up, but no one wanted them. Instead there were stuffed green peppers, potatoes, salad, corn, green beans, rolls, and a vegetable and fruit tray. I filled myself up on so much baby carrots and a few pieces of cheese, that I could barely eat what was on my plate.

I ended up having more than one of these throughout the afternoon...

After lunch we opened our Easter baskets. Us older folk are not so cute with that, but my two and a half year old niece sure is.

Here is what I got from my dad.

Here is what my mom gave me.

After cleaning up, we ended up hanging out outside for a while before I left. My niece threw and kicked her Disney princess ball I gave her, walked around the yard, and gave the dog some treats.

When I got home, my husband was grilling out for us and his dad. He made our usual favorites- chicken kebabs, potatoes and onions, and asparagus (their favorite- not mine).

My plate for dinner.
My husband had a friend for the second half of his dinner. Peter (my father-in-law's dog) just jumped right up in the chair behind my hubby and stayed there. He didn't even try to eat anything.
I hope that everyone had a great Easter and here is to getting back on track for the rest of us people in weight loss land.

Sweet and Sour

I picked the name for this post with a purpose. I had a few "sweet" or positive things that I wanted to write about and I have a few "sour" or negative things I wanted to write about. With that being said, here I go...

Sweet
  • I'm finally back on track with eating mostly on plan.
  • I'm doing better at the harder exercises on the Wii Fit. I can make it through the whole push ups (girl style) and side plank exercise and lunges without feeling like I'm gonna fall on the floor.
This shirt was so tight I was embarrassed to wear it when I first bought it and now it is too big so I'm using it to workout in! Also I can fit into my old workout shorts!
  • My Valentine's roses (or should I say rose plant) are starting to bloom and look healthier, but there are still a few dry leaves.

  • Paul McCartney is on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine. The article about him is the only one I've had time to read so far.

  • I have a great student I'm giving piano lessons to on Wednesdays. She makes my Wednesday afternoons so much better!
  • I baked some pumpkin brownies again and they are delicious!

  • I've been talking to my aunt and we already have tickets to see Roger Waters of Pink Floyd perform The Wall live. We have also been talking about possibly seeing Ringo and his All Starr Band since they are coming to the Horseshoe Casino.
  • Since I'm having trouble with some negative feelings and feelings about the past, I've been thinking more and more about really making an effort to play the flute. It lets me get emotions out and soothes me in a positive way. Yea for a hopefully soon implemented positive habit.
  • I can finally wear that St. Joe shirt that I bought for work back at homecoming.

Sour
  • I'm having trouble with being upset/angry with someone and I'm trying my best to get over it. I don't like this feeling of anger inside of me nor do I like things that have happened in the past to bubble up and mix with these new feelings.
  • I had a rough day at work. I had a great time with my first grade and third grade classes, but the kindergarten, second, and fourth grade classes were a little bit rough. I was physically exhausted and my mind was mush by the end of the day. I love my job, but there are days that are tougher than others.
  • I'm still struggling with the snacking monster. I only ate a couple of rice crispy squares, so it isn't the worst I've done.
  • I've gained a little bit of weight back with not being on plan last week. It still has yet to come off.

Back on Track Tuesday

Today was a long Tuesday. I was tired all day, but it seemed like a lot of other people were tired today too. Maybe it was just the weather. When I woke up, this is what it looked like outside.

Then this is what it looked like on the way home from work.

As you might have noticed, I haven't been posting much of what I've been eating lately. My meals have been mostly on track, but my snacks have been horrible. Today I decided to try really hard to get myself back on track, as much as I don't feel like it. The food and exercise I do will be back on my posts this week.
